Welcome
ISU
Faculty & Staff
As Iowa State University faculty and staff, you are vital
to making this institution an international leader in research and development.
That's also the goal of the Institute for Physical Research and Technology,
which is why we want to team with you.
Who We Are
IPRT is a network of scientific research centers that
are part of ISU. If you've heard of the the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation, seen the C6 virtual
reality facility or performed work
through our contract research services, you already know a little bit about
IPRT.
Our principal mission is to focus both our fundamental and applied research
strengths on the development of new technologies.
One way we do this is to promote and facilitate
interdisciplinary research within and among our centers and with academic
departments and colleges. We recognize that in modern science and engineering:
- The creation of new scientific knowledge
often occurs at the interfaces between traditional academic disciplines.
- Real-world problems are often larger
and more complex than those that can be addressed by a single academic
unit.
Another of IPRT's goals is to facilitate
technology transfer in the United States to help improve the competitive position of U.S. industry and to create economic diversity in
Iowa, in keeping with the land-grant mission of the university.
What We Can Do for You
IPRT's resources can provide opportunities,
services, facilities and industry interaction, creating an environment in
which you can conduct innovative, world-class research. IPRT's unique advantages
include:
- Unparalleled experience in research
and development.
- Successful history of working with
ISU faculty and facilitating interdisciplinary research.
- Proven expertise in industry interaction,
company assistance and technology transfer.
- Numerous services and assistance
to facilitate world-class research here at ISU.
